The UTSA Small Business Development Center’s satellite office in New Braunfels, Texas opened its doors in November 2011 and serves Comal and Guadalupe counties. This extension of the San Antonio SBDC has proven to be a great asset to those communities. The office offers professional, confidential, one-on-one business advising and an array of small business workshops that small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs in the New Braunfels and Seguin areas can take advantage of.

The office is managed by Sharon Miller, an experienced small business development advisor. “The community is very welcoming. We have a strong network of referrals and our efforts are appreciated,” states Miller. Director of the SBDC in San Antonio, Morrison Woods, states, “We’ve been providing business advising services in those communities for the past 15 years by scheduling SBDC business advisors from San Antonio to travel to those communities several times per week to meet with clients. But now we have a full-time presence in the communities.” He adds, “This is a natural progression for us, and a great way to home grow local business in these counties.”

The office is funded through the economic development corporations of the cities of New Braunfels and Seguin through an agreement with the Center for Entrepreneurship, a non-profit corporation. President of The Center for Entrepreneurship Trevor Bird states, “As a business owner, it has been inspiring to see the cooperation of the many different partners that make up the funding and operations of the SBDC. In a short time, the New Braunfels center has had a tremendous impact on the local business community by being a place that local entrepreneurs can turn to.” The community is invited to call or visit the office and meet with Sharon Miller or other certified business advisor who can assist with the startup stage to the expansion phase of their business
